Notes/Domino 6 and 7 Forum : SMTP rejecting (undeliverable) mails

Hi,

Im having a problem with undeliverable mail being rejected by our notes server. eg:

I send a mail from Lotus notes to a nonexistantuser@ourdomain.com, the user is not in the domino directory so it sends the mail to the smarthost, the smarthost sends the mail to the main mailserver, it gets rejected back to notes but notes server rejects the email:

Notes->Smarthost->"mailServer"----->||(gets rejected)||notes

08/20/2003 07:23:02 AM SMTP Server [068C:0008-0848] Mail from rejected for policy reasons. Sender is denied in your configuration.

I have the ip address of the main mail server configured in the inbound sender controls (Allow messages from the following...). I can send messages to notes from this server, its only the rejected mail that does'nt come back to the notes server.

I noticed in the error message that (Mail from rejected....) there is no "from address" so I think notes cannot identify who the mail is from and thats why its rejected. why could this be??

I tried removing the inbound sender addresses to allow all connections and that worked, the rejected mail came back with no problem.

What else could I try?
